This one moment in a century.

Well, I almost lost this opportunity and thanks to my wife and her timely remainder to this event. It is time to tell something important, then it struck to me, well, the post itself is something... to be there in the moment that's very unique with my beloved and doing what I love to do.We, the animals, are pron to all such petty pleasures to make life interesting and keep going. Giving a positive perspective of the life itself. And making life a beautiful most event of all.

Also the date and time has something to say about the unanimity of the format. At this very moment we look at time the same way universally. Basically I don't believe in time being viewed in a different perspective. As a matter of fact there is nothing called time, like as to say, time is everything; both means the same. what do you say? :)

Panic Kills More Than Pandemic

Swine Flu in Velacherry, Chennai, India. this being the place where I live, Velacherry is under spotlight after the maudlin demise of a 4 year old boy. Nearby schools have been declared holiday in the wake of the outbreak. People are almost in the brink of panic. We can see it in every other person we pass by. Most of them are either parents or hygiene freaks.

Every epidemic has a side effect, but for a pandemic it is going to be an outrage of panic people. The first thing to deal, in this link of situation is to setup access point for people to reach out for help both medical assistance or/and information. Not only the individual but the press and other representatives of any body. Panic kills more than a pandemic, now u Know. Let the wake-up call keep ringing till the Government gets the sense to hear it. They are whom we look out for help or are they the one to be helped. I don't know. God help those in need. Sigh!

Excercise Your Franchise... if given a chance.

When I was in my schools, this line caught me at my civics class, "Exercise your franchise. Well thats for the responsible citizen and his constitutional rights. I doubt how many had the chance to execute it (either willingly or not) in the recent Election, as they say the 15TH LOK SABHA ELECTION. Does people know that it is the 15th or 75th election. It is the darkness that prevails, you can call it unawareness or corruption or whatever. But the election proved to be all-out feeding frenzy. The cash flow, favoritism, empowerment, election commission and the list keeps on elongating to our fascination.

Coming back to the "Un-given Chance", most of the people I knew didn't vote this time, or they were not given a chance to. Most of their names has been missed in the list of voters. I had the same problem too. Further investigating what could have happened, I found some interesting facts on list preparation. The people deployed for preparing the voters list where send in the hot sun, they were exhausted even before they start the door to door enlisting. Once they reach some residence (in Chennai), they find Tenants, where as the owners of the house might be enlisted. The Answer they get from the tenants are that they don't know about people around the place or about the owners'. This makes their job pretty messy. As a result they can't do any good and either mark them as not found or shifted. This in turn rendered as a big list of voters with no names in the list they have. It was shocking for most of the voters, not finding their names and return after a long wait in the queue under the hectic weather. That disappointment is worse than anything. This kind of victimization has not left the celebrities too. I heard Kamal Hasan was affected too.

I wondered this never happened to any politicians... or did anyone had, mmmm!

Nagesh: The Legend

Making others happy is a boon to anyone in this whole world. It is not often we can see a human dedicate his life to make people happy and succeed. OUR NAGESH, a legend of Tamizh Cinema has completed his run in this world and took the eternal rest on January 31, 2009. His journey has made more than four generations to feel good, he was not only a comedian, but a great actor who knew his audience.

His variety in characterization and delivering the dialogs along with an impeccable body language were classic. At times it may look like he doesn't want anybody to reproduce his act, such was his dedicated performance.

His feats canopy all his personal life turmoils, and poised a great smile and ensured that the viewers had one too. We never knew how Tharumi looked like, but we know Nagesh. The monologues of a poverty struck poet: Tharumi in Thiruvilayaadal, Aspiring Movie Maker in Kathalikka Neramillai, a mourning Father in Nammavar. It seems he never knew how to stop acting and amuse people, he even portrayed as a corp with a smiling face the entire movie. At his age that was a mammoth task, yet he did it, such is his legend.

After witnessing all these accomplishments, how can we mourn his absence. The most comprehensive thing to do is to Celebrate the life of Mr. Nagesh, for he lived his life to make us smile and be happy...

Inhibition of new species on Earth

This Monday an announcement stated by some environmental enthusiastic Scientists, that they have appended 10 more new species of amphibians. The excitement has extended to reveal another set of discovery that enlists a range of birds totally exotic and some reptiles.

Looks like we are still cooking the evolution cauldron, where we still get new neighbours. Or are we not aware of them all along? Need to think on that!

The Ghosts we see, holloween special.

Does Ghost exist? Are they trying to contact us? Are the mediums freak? Well I'm not going to utter a single word to answer those kinda questions. But I would definitely step forward to explain or understand the phenomena. I believe its all in our cranial box.

So let me start with what all concepts are being around this "Ghost" idea. EMF (Electro Magnetic Field) one of the famous entity when it comes to ghost reading, feeling cold (what?) ghost hunters have

something called 'cold spot', apparitions, voices, odor, hallucinations and the list goes like China Wall. Placing these phenomena and analyzing, we constantly missing something that we have to watch. Like its been said we need two hands to clap. So we have one hand, those that I've just tried to list, the other hand is obviously our BRAIN.

The Brain is the most complex body we have ever encountered. Its main functionality is to understand, recognize, calculate, decide, act or react, and repeat all the above. It plays the crucial part in the entire drama. So lets take the phenomenon of odor, we bring an object, say a Rose flower, and take a deep breath, the scent locks itself to the receptors located in our nose and sends signals to the brain. These signals are bio potential (here comes our Hero) our body produce, in simple words electricity our body generates. Bio potential signals are interpreted in one part of the brain and recognized in the another part, and make us to respond, like, making us to say it as a Rose.

A series of bio potential exchange happens in the brain the whole while. When exposed to an EMF for a considerably long time, there is a possibility that our brain kick start a smell process without the initial sniffing of the flower. And the other part of the brain recognizing it as the scent of rose, and the "Fright, flight and fight" area of the brain would alarm an abnormality. The scent of Rose without the rose. And misinterpret as spooky!

Well that was a long story short. It is said Ghost cause an EMF at their presence, may be! But it can also be the other way, a strong EMF causing our brain to see, smell, hear that is not existing. Another explanation to ghosts.

Understanding Our Loved Ones...

Being together has brought the world to where it is now, the same sense that drove all the odd and kept us going and still keeping us in pace. LOVE. Loving someone is also one of the driving force to thrive life on the planet, the tingling surge is its energy. When all is done and the one we love, loves us likewise, then heaven has its meaning explained on earth.

The unseen love between the animals and insects, which we can't understand, coexists our romance. But what keeps our relationship going is the constant and undivided attention, unconditional love, and prolonged synchronization of understanding.

There are simple ways to acquire this, like having a soul talk (nothing dirty!), loving them until you know them completely and making them know how much you love them. Even if the argument is right in your side be patient to bring them to spot light. Being considerate and agile to the needs, not necessarily compassionate but respect the feelings. Hurting yourself to make your better part feel good will never do any good for a long run. So be cautious to decide and act. A reassuring touch can replace thousand words of console. Never ever leave them feel alone. And so many more... the problem is, it is tough to follow. It is always good you express your better part your effort to bring all these into your life, even you are failing at times. Admittance is another catalyst.

Learning to love the person is not a task but an art, after all love is the best gift you give yourself.

World Handwash Day, first time in history.

UN has declared to commemorate its first World Handwash day. Following the declaration of the year 2008 as year of sanitation, October 15th has been declared WORLD HANDWASH DAY.

Message is, wash your hands for God sake people!

Primates Plan Like People!

For most of us, primates are mere monkeys to our eyes. The truth is we might look as one to their eyes, may be.

Through the time, enthusiasts have made studies that has moved us so hard that we find it difficult to believe the fact that Chimps do that thinking and has a great cognition. Once I saw a documentary in National Geography Channel, it was about the Chimps and its way of life in the wild. One among the amazing facts was that they organize crime. WHAT?! Organize Crime!... Yeah Buddy! They have it like us... The Instinct. Phew!

Now Studies have a proven theory that they also plan for their future! (give me a break!). The Lund University Cognitive Science had this study undertaken. Previously many studies (by others) have a theory that Chimps use tools. Well that is some kind of sign that they can plan. But the latest studies is mind blowing, how can they plan for their future? I still wonder, what could have been their plans. Unlike human counterparts they might not have plans for their next SUVs and grand mansion, don't tell me!

What so ever, it is clear that there are things in existence that we refuse to believe and can make us feel worthless of ourselves. Some facts - Chimps have almost 96% same human genes, HIV originated with monkeys - not Chimps, they are team players, selfless helpers and what not.

Lets go scratch ourselves!

Friday the 13th

paraskevidekatriaphobia as its been termed, the fear of Friday the 13th has nothing to do with anything. It is a creepy feeling that something might happen very unlucky and displeasing on this particular day, I bet, it can't be as bad as every other day. cuz, it is a famous day to get frightened off, that makes it special. Freaky stuffs happen to people on any other day, it doesn't bother what day it is, if it wants to smack you, then you get it with a right stroke buddy! PERFECTION is its middle name. So Chill!

Once in my boyhood days I encountered a cyclone, that hit our town. As for as we know for generations we didn't have any cyclones, may be heavy rains. I took my bicycle and rushed to the sea shore to see how it passes the shore (was curious to see the thing that we often hear in the weather reports..). The sea shore is some 700 meters from my house at Tuticorin. The fast wind pushed me back, that was very intense. After reaching the shore I can feel the sharp pain on my face caused by the raindrops. Then I realized that day was a Friday,13th of1993.

Today, by 2:30am, we had a heavy electrical siege at my office. Resulting, a large scale of damage to electrical and electronic instruments, that includes laptops adapters, monitors, Servers and some vital office infrastructures. Now, do I have to fear Friday the 13th or it is just a coincidence? I don't know!

Keeping aside the "numro 13 mania", the folklores, all the superstitions and the coincidence, I guess its weekend and its time to rejoice.

World Environment Day

As we observe this day as World Environment Day, it will be a nice think to do as to talk about the planet we call as home.

Have you seen clouds, I mean stared to look deep into it. I always love to watch them, move and always love see the bright bulky cloud thats behind another dark one at the foreground. They always display the beauty of an exotic fairy wandering in a Fantasy Island or something... wo! too much imagination eh! These clouds are so unique that they are available only in the World in this entire galaxy (of course, as far as we know!). Its for us, only for us. We should be so lucky to have them. accompanying it are the trees, snow cap mountains, glaciers, sea, desert. I should stop piling this as everything is so perfect to be in this world for us.

As an ending note I would like to point a website that talked about the shrinking glaciers in Norway, the fading beauty. It is just the tip of an Iceberg, I meant the issue.

End of a great Odyssey! a Tribute to sir Arthur C Clarke.

One of the finest human achiever. He has poised himself as a great Author, an Inventor and most amazingly a futurist. His 2001: A Space Odyssey was an exceptional work that blew our minds. His rendition of the fact that the 'man's tools helped him evolve and at the end his tools control him', was kind of a jaw-dropper. His contribution to the scientific community has been inevitable.

I never had a chance to see him in his life time, yet my friend, Petchiappan did, which was almost like me seeing him. Petchiappan and me share similar interests when it comes to all those stuffs Clarke deals. He met Mr. Clarke at his Colombo residence. As he recalls the historic meeting, he described the place was painted SCIENCE, wallpapers depicting the distance to the moon from his staircase, Posters of "THE STAR CHILD" form space odyssey and a forest of books. The snaps he took with him and couple of others stuffs there will cherish the memory of The Great Soul.

I was personally overwhelmed with Clarke's association with Stanley Kubrick. This dynamic duo rendered the words into celluloid and made a revolution in the movie media too. Though I have not read the book I have seen and amazed, 2001: A Space Odyssey. The Discovery Channel once aired a program which was hosted and concieved by Mr. Clarke was always a topic my friends took to discuss (actually amaze!) most of the times.

To conclude, not in a sad note, yet I would say, 'A great soul has taken off for its real Odyssey!

Fuel Price Hike, what's the alternative?

The natural resources of our precious planet is running out. It is us to blame and we face the consequence may it be global warming or fuel price hike. As its been said 'necessity is the mother of invention", we now go for the next possible solution. Technology is a bit catalytic towards the evolution of man in a way. Our quest for a solution is always aided by the power of technology.

Nanotechnology is one among the astonishing accomplishment in the face of technology. Now alternative energy (I don't know whether I use this term or not) gets 'nanofied'. Researchers have come up with a 'Power Shirt', capable of generating small amount of electricity that can fuel small devices that's carried by soldiers, hikers or for people constantly in motion. Devices like GPS navigators.

Not only nanotechnology, but bio-mechanical stuffs are also contributing for its share. The image shown beside is a electric generator capable of powering an iPod or a GPS for a walker who wears this knee brace.

Whatsoever new technology may come up with new solutions, it us to use it wisely and conserve the precious energy we poses.

Microbes To Produce Hydrocarbon...

The days are not far away, when we use genetically engineered fuel. Bacterias that are genetically modified to store energy in them can be used to generate Hydrocarbons that can one day substitute the fossil fuel that we are using now. Read more here...

It is also feared that the genetically engineered bacteria must not interfere the food chain or something to cause any catastrophe.

Olympic Logo!?... give me a break...

All the time when I see a new Olympic logo. It has been surprising and it made us wonder what they have tried to convey. Most of the time it would be about unity, Grace, or Glory kind of stuff. The designs have always been a trend setting component. You can see lots and lots of merchandise floating with the logo embedded, regardless of the user's interest in sports. The core reason is that it looks good and meaning full. There will definitely be the five ring thing, in it. May some cursiveness accompany, but LONDON 2012 Olympics too has given a surprise with the logo. This time it is a negative surprise. Just check the logo out...

What does comes to your mind, when you see the logo? What the crap? Wha... what the hell are trying to say? The funny part is that it comes with all corouls, you hace a choice to pick your favourite one, if you like in the first place. It must have eaten a lot of money and time to come to this design. I just need to know them, so that they can spend some on me and make feel angelic. God! I can't they did this to something like Olympic. They must have great guts to accept this. Anything is design, though. But you need some grace and elegance and message with respect to the unified spirit of sports and the movement itself. I don't know how people on Earth got this accepted.

Say, that came a long way..

Have you ever wondered how some "Say" might have born or came into usage. Right from my childhood I had this fascination of how things started to exist. Here are some say that I read somewhere and I would like to share them.

It's Raining Cats and Dogs: In the those days, say 14th century or somewhere then, the houses had thick straw piled roofs. These thatched roofs where harbouring all the house pets like hens, dogs, cats and whichever finds a way to climb atop. It was warmer there. But in days of heavy rain they sometime slip and fall down off the roof, and hence came the say "it's raining cats and dogs". (Image courtesy http://www.vitalnetworks.com)

The well-off, in those days, had slate floors and were slippery in the cold season, especially in winter. So they spread thresh (straw) to keep their footing. As the season wore on they keep adding more thresh, until it slips outside when doors are opened. To stop them oozing out there were wooden block placed to hold them, they are known as "thresh hold". Yeah you got it....

In those days most of the marriages were held in the month of May, as people used to take their yearly bath by April and they smelled pretty good that invoked them to get attracted (!?!) and married. Once they started to smell by the time of wedding, the bride carried her bouquet to conceal the odour. But the custom of carrying a bouquet is continuing, but the bath stuff I don't know...

England, when ran out of space to bury its dead people, Way back couple of centuries. They used to dig the existing graves and found scratch marks in the coffins, when reopened. It was believed, there were 1 out of every 25 such incidents. Realizing that the buried might have been alive and tried to escape from the death trap and fell prey to the fate, they came up with some new ideas. So they tied a string to the corpse and let it come through the ground and the other end was tied to a bell (if you have seen the movie "The Great Train Robbery", Donald Sutherland will be placed inside such a coffin, which had a provision to ring a bell from inside, to sneak into the secured part of the train, for obvious reasons). There will be someone waiting out side to watch for the bell to ring and they stayed all through the night, taking turns in the "graveyard shift" so that someone could be "saved by the bell". There was a custom of "wake" held in Irish families, and they don't mourn till they get conformed that the body has no more life in it, after couple of days wait. Most of the time these guys used to drink a cocktail of ale and whiskey, which knocks them for days and this made the others to think of the person is a dead one already. STRANGE!

Though these above information may have an alleged nature by itself, they are interesting to know... ain't they?

Jackie Chan

I admire Jackie Chan right from my childhood. He is awesome when it comes to humanly tedious stunts and humor. His Movies have never failed to make us laugh. But behind the screen he has gone through a lot of pain and strain to become what he is now. This is a tribute to the incomparable artist and the human limits that a human can posses. I remember my friend Petchiappan has a video tape of Jackie's "The young Master", which he used to see a lot of times and tries to imitate the postures Jackie did. It is just one sample of Jackie's influence on Kids and all his audience. He never fails to keep his reputation too. He has hardly done his schoolings, but effort has raised him. He cannot utter English for a small moment of time, yet he has made his stamp in Hollywood. He has got his star in the Walk Of Fame. Starting as a stunt man, in his career, friends like Samo Hung, has given him a great hand of friendship and profession.

An Inconvenient Truth - By Al Gore.

Couple of weeks back I happened to see Mr. Al Gore's presentation, "An Inconvenient Truth", talking about human caused global warming and a possible remedy. The entire presentation was a clean portrayal of what we have done to our home planet. His thesis claims the retreat of anormous glaciers dating back for 1850 till date, it was really creepy. The most heart wrenching truth was that the reports of the drowning polar bears. They were found dead because of drowning after a long struggle of swimming and getting tired. The melting ice has become helpless themselves to help these magnificent creatures.


I also heard the Associate Press has contacted some 100 or so climate scientist to get the nod, for this thesis has some real science in it. Only after which the documentary was released. You would end up with awe, after knowing that we have also contributed for our share.

Though we talk a lot about global warming and can feel its effect, we take no measures to minimize the effect of anything to help the situation. The Documentary's success is that it doesn't talk only about the impact but shed some usefull suggestions to follow (which we can only dream off..) and the outcome would be a great resolve.
